"What you sow,
is also,
what you shall reep."
Its in the bible, and thats what my verse is.

What you do to others,
it will come back to you,
so be careful,
God works in mysterious ways.
the word 'yank' didn't come into widespread terminology until the civil war, it was a word invented by southerners to refer to northerners. :)

otherwise this is really cute. sorry, just a little mistake I wanted to fix. I think it would be better if you said 'colonist'
Can you site your source on that?

Yankey spelled with a Y can be dated to the early 18th century rooted from what was originally a nickname just for Colonists of Connecticut.
I know the sources state can be either a mulilation of a Cherokee word or a Dutch word, though it has been lost where exactly it came from.

It became wide spread nickname for all New Englanders and not just Connecticut in the French and Indian War when British played 'Yankey Doodle' as a slam against American Militias.
I know of quotes of General Wolfe using it 1758.

I know Yankee as we modernly spell it is 19th century and maybe Yank is 19th century but Yankey with a y is a old term for American Colonists.

Most of my books are right now packed due to I will be moving soon otherwise I would find exact theories in detail here for you.
But off the bat my sources are Vulgar Tongue by Francis Grose, as well ‘Dictionary of slang and their origins’ name of the author eludes me at the moment.

It appears you are right : x Sorry I remember in history class my teacher telling us that it originated from the civil war. Can't believe teachers now I guess.
