Ole Lukøje brother Death from Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale about the sandman.
He is described as a handsome hussar that wears black velvet with silver lace. Which sounds like a Black Brunswick Hussar, I’m not the first or will be the last artist to depict this character in that uniform.

4X6 vellum Bristol with ink, warm/neutral grey markers, black watercolour, various types of white inks, gel pen and gouache.

I saw this on Tumblr earlier today and I just can't help keeping a tab always open to go back and stare at it again. He looks positively ominous, but in a subtle way, with that angle and the little glow of the eyes and the wind-swept plume.
Great work, just great work.

Thank you, that is exactly what I was trying to do.
It's nice to know I succeeded. :)

Super delicious! Not understanding how this doesn't have more comments. :( Is it just me, or have comments become much more sparse as of late?

Anyway, an excellent piece of real media artwork!

Thank you dude! :) Means a lot coming from you.
I think because I picked a slightly obscure fairy tale (aka Disney hasn't made a movie of it) And it's a small piece which my smaller artwork rarely gets attention online.
Comments are sparse here on DA, then again I disappeared for a number of years so it just maybe the WAY of the site now.
